Post-Injectables Skincare Routine

Injectable treatments promise smoother, firmer skin, but to ensure you make the most of your investment, a well-crafted skincare routine is essential. Here I explore key ingredients post-injectables and discuss what to avoid.

Post-Injectables Skincare Routine

Morning-after Routine:

Gentle Cleanser: A gentle, hydrating cleanser is the first step towards a refreshed complexion. Look for a sulphate-free formula to cleanse without stripping essential oils, ensuring skin remains in an optimal state for post-injectables care.

Hydrating Toner: Post-cleansing, apply a hydrating toner to rebalance the skin's pH levels. Toners enriched with hyaluronic acid provide an extra layer of hydration, soothing any potential redness or irritation resulting from injectable treatments.

Vitamin C Serum: The morning after injectables, you can introduce a vitamin C serum. This potent antioxidant aids in collagen synthesis, promoting skin elasticity and brightness. Choose a stable formulation with added benefits such as ferulic acid for enhanced efficacy.

Moisturiser with SPF: Sun protection is non-negotiable post-injectables. Select a moisturiser with a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30. This not only shields your skin from harmful UV rays but also safeguards the longevity of your results.

Ingredients to Include:

Hyaluronic Acid: As a key component of injectable fillers, hyaluronic acid maintains its effectiveness in skincare. Look for HA-infused products to lock in moisture, plump the skin and prolong the benefits of treatments.

Peptides: Peptides play a pivotal role in supporting collagen production. By incorporating peptide-rich products, you encourage the skin's natural ability to remain firm and resilient.

Retinol: Gradually introduce retinol in the week following your injectables. This powerhouse ingredient aids in cell turnover, minimising fine lines and wrinkles. Begin with a lower concentration to acclimate your skin, gradually increasing as tolerance builds.

Antioxidants: Fortify your skincare arsenal with antioxidants like vitamins C and E. These combat free radicals, offering protection against environmental stressors and ensuring your complexion remains radiant and youthful.

What to Avoid:

Harsh Exfoliants: Post-injectables, go very easy on exfoliation. Avoid abrasive scrubs that may irritate, and consider incorporating alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for a more gentle exfoliating experience.

Alcohol-Based Products: Steer clear of skincare products laden with alcohol, as they can compromise the skin's natural barrier and counteract the hydrating effects of injectables.

Aggressive Acids: Refrain from using strong acids like glycolic or salicylic acid immediately after treatments. These may provoke unnecessary irritation and disrupt the delicate balance of post-injectables skin.
